Cast in stone

2010

The project was made for the Time 02 exhibition which took place as part of Jerusalem Design Week 2010. With the title of "Jerusalem" as an overhead starting point, i took reference in the massive use of local stone for building throughout the city. In some places, the visible layer is only the pick of hidden layers from different and ancient periods which are slowly being exposed in the massive archeological sites around Jerusalem. These ideas inspired a sand casting method, which uses shaped sand stones to create unique multi -layered bronze objects which are then being "excavated" and finished.
